ACIB and EFB: "Designer Biology: From Proteins and Cells to Scaffolds & Materials“
This meeting aims at bringing together young and established scientists working in the field of bioengineering/synthetic biology. The scope is to discuss different applications ranging from the engineering of proteins to the engineering of functionalized materials. While the larger umbrella used in these fields is similar, the specific aspects are different and we think that targeting different disciplines together in one meeting will strongly benefit the bioengineering community at large and give rise to synergies and opportunities for new collaborations.
Main topics will include:
Biomaterials - Functionalized and bio-inspired materials
Biological control systems - From optogenetics to synthetic circuits
Cell factories – Redesign and production of macromolecules
Designer molecules – From antibiotics to synthetic enzymes
Confirmed Keyote Speakers:
Mustafa Khammash, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
Eriko Takano, University of Manchester, UK
Tom Howard, Newcastle University, UK
Gianluca Ciardelli , Politecnico di Torino, Italy
Victor Sourjik, MPI – Synthetic Microbiology, Germany
Andreas Möglich, University of Bayreuth, Germany
